Roger Banister

Born March 23, 1921. Not known to the world as a dominate runner, but he pushed the envelope of distance running when he became the first person ever to run a mile in under 4:00 minutes. The running world watched as many of its premeire athletes try to be the first to accomplish it. On May 6, 1954 at Iffley Road Track in Oxford, Roger Bannister ran a 3:59.4 to break the, once thought impossible, barrier. Bannister went on o become a distinguised neurologist.

It's always motivational to read about some of the legendary runners, not to mention their various backgrounds and accomplishments. I was unaware that Robert Banister was a neurologist!
